Dr. Jill Beloff Farrell is the Program Director for the Graduate Curriculum and Instruction Programs. She earned her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction/Instructional Leadership at Florida International University. She also holds an MS in Elementary Education and a BFA. Prior to joining the university, Dr. Farrell served as a K-8 principal and taught both elementary and middle school science, social studies, mathematics, language arts, and art. Dr. Farrell is active in local, state and national professional organizations. She has published articles in a variety of professional journals and presented at numerous local, state, national, and international conferences.

Her current research foci are action research, classroom inquiry, teacher leadership, collaboration, and empowerment, and the infusion of service learning into P-20 settings.

Judy Harris-Looby, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Director of the Graduate Exceptional Student Education Programs at Barry University. Her doctoral degree is in Special Education with a specialization in Emotional Handicaps. Her Master’s degree is in Special Education, Diagnostic and Prescriptive Teaching. Dr. Harris-Looby has published in many peer-refereed journals and presented at national conferences on topics related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADHD), emotional and behavioral disorders, learning disabilities (LD), and collaborative consultation strategies and techniques.

Dr. Joyce Warner, assistant professor, joined the Graduate Reading Faculty in the Adrian Dominican School of Education in 2003. From 2001 through 2003 she was Regional Coordinator for the Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence (FlaRE) Center at the University of Central Florida. She also taught Reading Practicum, Remedial Reading, and Language Arts graduate degree and certification courses at Florida Atlantic University, where she also was a supervisor of developing teachers.

Dr. Warner has 30 years of K-12 experience in all areas and levels of literacy, reading and language arts education. In addition to her direct classroom experience, she led school-wide Title I programs and she initiated and led a district wide high school literacy program.

She holds an EdD from the University of Pennsylvania with a specialization in reading, an MS in Curriculum Development from Monmouth University and a BA in English from Syracuse University. She is a Teacher/Teacher Trainer for Orton-Gillingham reading programs, and is certified in Florida as a Reading Specialist, K-12.

Dr. Warner is active in local, state, and international reading organizations. She is currently a manuscript reviewer for The Reading Teacher and The Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. She has been a consultant to the Michigan Department of Education for development of the statewide Michigan Educational Assessment Program.

Dr. Sam Perkins is an Assistant Professor in and Interim Director of the TESOL Department of the Adrian Dominican School of Education and earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education (with a concentration in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Georgia State University. He taught in public and private schools in Georgia before becoming a faculty member of Mercer University in Atlanta. His research interests are assessment of ELLs, multicultural education, and distance education. Currently he is Secretary to the 2006 International TESOL Convention, Secretary of the Florida Association of Teacher Educators (FATE), and Member at Large of the Executive Board of Sunshine State TESOL.
