LICENSE TITLE: Emergency Medical Technician

RATIONALE: In the State of Florida, Emergency Medical Technicians generally receive their training from one of two sources: a regionally accredited college or from an approved 280 hour non-credit program. Regardless of the source of training, all individuals must pass a standardized examination in order to be licensed. The examination can be either from the State of Florida or be a national examination which has the advantage of reciprocity with 37 other states.

Additionally, it is to be noted that by virtue of holding the Emergency Medical Technician license, students enrolled in degree programs in the School of Adult and Continuing Education at Barry University automatically receive a higher level of competence score in their portfolio of experiential learning which ultimately ensures a greater credit award on the portfolio than students who do not hold the license.
