Dr. Paige Banaji co-authors new book titled ‘The Rhetoric of Participation’

Dr. Paige Banaji, assistant professor of English in Barry’s Department of English and Foreign Languages, has co-authored a new book titled, “The Rhetoric of Participation: Interrogating Commonplaces in and Beyond the Classroom.”

The book is a digitally-born, edited collection presenting the perspectives of 20 scholars and educators in the fields of rhetoric and composition, all of whom engage with the question, “what does it mean to participate?” With discussions ranging from classroom-participation models to participation in online spaces, this collection explores the multifaceted and complex nature of participation, while demonstrating the ongoing necessity for research and theorization of this pedagogical commonplace.

Banaji, who is director of the First-Year Writing Program, brings to her classrooms a background in composition pedagogy, rhetorical history and theory, and women’s rhetoric. In addition to composition, she also teaches courses on rhetoric and literature.
