Dr. Laura Alonso-Gallo to Present at Cuban Literary Series

On the heels of her appearance at the 2019 Miami Book Fair International last fall, Professor of English Dr. Laura Alonso-Gallo will present Identidad y postnacionalismo: en la cultura cubana (Identity and Post-nationalism in Cuban Culture) at Books & Books in Coral Gables as part of a series organized by the Cuban Research Institute at the FIU School of International & Public Affairs. The event will be held on February 5 at 6:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

“It is indeed an honor,” says Alonso-Gallo of her invitation to participate in the series. She reports that her appearance at the 2019 Miami Book Fair International was both well attended and successful, and she is pleased to extend her vast research and knowledge of Cuban society and culture to literary conversations in South Florida and beyond. Currently, she serves on the editorial board for a collection of works by Cuban writers, Obra Selecta, published by Aduana Vieja, which also published her latest book. So far, the series includes works by Orlando Rossardi, Jorge A. Sanguinetty, and Emilio Bejel.
