Summerlin Knipe
Barry University Graduate, 2010
Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Minor in French
Summerlin Knipe, a native of Massachusetts, was attracted to Barry University because of its foreign language department. She was also recruited for the University's rowing team, attending Barry from 2006-2010.
"My time in the Department of English and Foreign Languages was amazing," says Summerlin. "I truly felt a genuine caring from my instructors including their willingness to help me at the drop of a hat. They kept me engaged and interested while also pushing me to reach my full potential, which I cherish now that I am an alumnus."
"I was brought up in a family of teachers and from a very young age, I have also aspired to be a teacher," continued Summerlin. "Since graduating from Barry, I have decided that before I continue with my education, I would like to get some experience in the field of teaching."
"With the confidence I gained at Barry, I will be teaching at the University School in Davie, FL in the fall of 2010. Hopefully, I will also be involved in the school's rowing program. I encourage any student, especially if you have many interests as I did, to consider Barry University when applying to college" said Summerlin. "The classes are small and everyone, from the instructors to the staff, are always there when you need them."
