Join the Conversation with Smart Talks

Barry University faculty, staff, and students are invited to "join the conversation" with Smarts Talks.

What are Smart Talks?

Smart Talks is an organization designed to create a conducive environment among students for the exchange of important ideas. This is done by viewing a series of TED Talks of similar subject matter and discussing the concepts.

TED (Technology Education and Design) is a website which displays the passion of some of the greatest minds of our time by allowing them to convey their ideas during a TED Talk. The TED website houses thousands of these TED Talks across a wide array of topics and subject matter which have the potential to engage students’ minds both within and outside of their field.

Attendees are encouraged to view the series of TED Talks prior to attending each Smart Talk.

Upcoming Smart Talks include and the corresponding Ted Talks to view include:

March 26, 2015 – Animals that Amaze!

  • Frans de Waal: Moral behavior in animals
  • Susan Savage-Rumbaugh: The gentle genius of bonobos
  • Paul Nicklen: Tales of ice-bound wonderlands

April 16, 2015 – Great Commencement Speeches:
