School of Education Doctoral Candidate Jennifer Lesh Chosen to Serve as a Coordinator of the Children and Youth Action Network

Jennifer Lesh, a Doctoral candidate in the PhD in Leadership and Education with a specialization in Exceptional Student Education program at Barry, was selected through blind peer review in a national search to serve as a Coordinator of the Children and Youth Action Network (CAN).

CAN is an advocacy and policy subcommittee of the National Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Lesh attended the annual meeting for all CAN Coordinators in Washington, D.C., on June 11 - 14th. As a CAN coordinator, Lesh joined other educators around the country in their efforts to advocate for and advance critical policy issues on behalf of students with disabilities and gifts and talents.

The major goals of CAN are to: Effect the necessary governmental changes at the local, state, and federal levels that will make possible the implementation of CEC policies relating to the education of exceptional children; and further vitalize CEC units by providing meaningful vehicles for membership and CEC public visibility.

This is a very prestigious appointment, and we would like to extend our sincere congratulations to her on behalf of the Exceptional Student Education Department in the Adrian Dominican School of Education.
