About the Program

Barry University’s Exercise Science bachelor’s program requires a total of 121 credit-hours.  The 24 credit-hour Sport and Exercise Science core will give you a general foundation. An additional 38 credit-hours are required which are specific to your Exercise Science major. You must achieve a minimum grade of C in all major, SES core, and co-requisite courses.

Prior to graduation, you must sit for at least one of the following certification exams:

ACSM Certification

If you are interested in working with the general population, you will be guided toward the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification examination. Certification options include the ACSM Health and Fitness Instructor Certification and the Exercise Specialist Certification.

NSCA Certification

If you are interested in working with the athletic population, you will be guided toward the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification exam offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
