Dr. John Barnes, Assistant Professor

Dr. Barnes earned his Master's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his Ph.D. in Sport Administration from the University of New Mexico . He came to Barry from Appalachian State University where he was the Interim Program Director and a Lecturer for their Sport Management program.

Prior to becoming a professor of Sport Management, Dr. Barnes worked as an Athletic Trainer at both the collegiate and professional levels, including California State University , the Montreal Expos, and the California Angels.

Dr. Barnes' research interests include NCAA policy making and regulation and marketing of women's sports. He teaches a variety of courses in Barry's undergraduate and graduate programs, including: Managing the Sport Enterprise, Sport Finance, Sport Marketing and Fundraising, and Introduction to Sport Management.
