We often tell our parents and family members that just because your student comes to college does not mean that they will suddenly start experimenting with alcohol or other drugs. However, it is realistic that many college students, especially first-time freshman, use their entrance into college as a way to experiment with new behaviors. With that being said, we believe the role of the family in educating both students and themselves about issues related to alcohol and other drugs is vital.
