| Teaching Philosophy |
| "I want to instill a secure knowledge base, aesthetic sensibility,
and visual literacy in my students. I try to encourage them to develop their
own aesthetics, a way of seeing and thinking about photography and digital
imaging." |
Sara Rytteke grew up in Växjö, Sweden. She came
to Barry University in 2001 after receiving her BFA from Arizona State University
in Tempe and her terminal degree, a Masters of Fine Arts in Photography from
University of Houston, Houston, TX where she also taught photography. From selfportraits
in 1994 to her current digital work Rytteke has continually explored the issue
of female identity and the influence from massmedia and western culture. Her
awards include Photography Fellowship Award from Society for Contemporary for
Photography, an Honorable Mention: Photography Fellowship from Houston Center
for Photography, Kronobergsläns Landstings Culture Stipend Sweden. Sara
Rytteke has participated in more than fifty exhibitions in Arizona, Connecticut,
Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas,
Washington as well as Sweden and France.
