Recreation and Wellness

At Barry University, we want you to exercise your mind, body, and spirit. Our programs, through the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness (CRW), help you do just that. The Fitness Center at the Landon Student Union is fully stocked with equipment to keep you in shape, no matter what your fitness level and goals are. The Center has more than 50 cardio and weight machines, a free-weight area, and boxing section. We also offer fitness tests, equipment help, and personal trainers to get you started on the right track.

Campus Recreation and Wellness regularly schedules free wellness classes. Our high-octane classes such as kickboxing, boot camp, and spinning will get you in gear. You can also relieve some stress and get fit with dance, yoga, Pilates, and more. You may be able to take these and other classes for credit with our Instructional activities in Sport and Recreation (ISR) program. They're not only a great way to make new friends, but they also encourage healthy lifestyle habits that will benefit you long after you graduate.


Each semester, students from all areas of campus gather on the courts and on the playing fields for intramural leagues and tournaments, which are also sponsored by Campus Recreation and Wellness. Here, you'll find some friendly – and sometimes serious – competition.

Choose from a number of your favorite sports, including flag football, softball, soccer, and basketball. You can also enjoy "old school" favorites like kickball, dodgeball, and table tennis. Either way, you'll get the chance to build your teamwork and leadership skills, get into shape, and have loads of fun.

And the best part about it? You don't have to dunk like Lebron, kick like Ronaldo, or pass like Manning to join in (though if you did, it definitely wouldn't hurt). Most intramural sports are broken up into recreational and competitive divisions, so no experience is necessary. Just sign up, get your game face on, and give it your best shot.
