Ann Bishop Memorial Journalism Scholarship
(Arts & Sciences - Communication majors)
One of the most respected television journalists in South
Florida history, Ann Bishop gained that reputation through a stellar
25-year career exemplified by professionalism and expertise. In 1977
Ms. Bishop became the first female broadcaster in a major market
to co-anchor both the early and late evening news. In a male-dominated
field, she rose steadily, and soon earned her distinction as
the dean of South Florida television anchors.
In 1990 Barry honored her with the David Brinkley Award for Excellence
in Communication. Ann continued to give back to Barry and the community.
In recognition of her contributions to communication, journalism,
and community service this scholarship was established by her
many co-workers and friends. Support this scholarship.
