Goizueta Minority Empowerment Scholarship
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Amanda Sueiro and I am writing to thank you for the Goizueta
Minority Empowerment Scholarship, which I have received for the 2004-2005
academic year. This scholarship came out a very good time because my
father has been unemployed for the past two years and therefore I really
needed the money.
I am nineteen years old and am a sophomore at Barry University. Right
now I am majoring in Advertising with a minor in Photography, however,
next semester I plan to change my major to Graphic Design. I decided
to change my major because I am a very creative and artistic individual.
I live in Miami, Florida but I am originally from Southern California.
I grew up in the city of Anaheim, which is located in Orange County.
The summer after I finished the sixth grade, my family and I moved across
the country to sunny South Florida.
I decided to go to Barry University because I was not ready to leave
home and also because my sister goes there. My sister and I are very
close; we are best friends. The past two semesters we took several
classes together at school, which were very enjoyable. Since we both
have danced all our lives we choreographed a tap dance together and
performed it in our school’s annual student Dance Showcase, which
was held two weeks ago. My sister is a senior at Barry so I am definitely
going to miss her when she graduates this May. I really am happy at
Barry University. It is a small school and therefore the s students
get to know their professors very well.
After I graduate, I want to go to Graduate school and get my Master’s
degree in Graphic Design. With Graphic Design I would like to someday
open up my own business where I create and sell stationary, invitations,
note cards, etc. that I design myself. I would also like to one day
open up a restaurant because I love to cook.
I am very grateful for the scholarship which I have received. I constantly
set goals and push myself to attain them. School is important to me
as is getting exceptionally good grades. Thank you again for your kind
gesture.
Sincerely,
Amanda Sueiro
