About the Programs
The MARC U*STAR/MIRT/MRBS RISE/MBRS SCORE and Bridges programs are supported by NIH to provide research opportunities for students and faculty. MARC U*STAR scholars are biology, psychology, chemistry and mathematics majors who carry out research on campus and who will pursue a Ph.D. in their major. Scholars receive tuition and monthly stipend. MIRT trainees major in biology and chemistry and carry out research during the summer in Italy, Jamaica, and Republic of Korea. Trainees receive travel, stipend and living expenses. MBRS RISE students major in biology and chemistry and are paid to carry out research on-campus with faculty and off-campus during the summer. MBRS SCORE has student technicians who carry out research with faculty in chemistry and biology. Technicians receive an hourly wage. Bridges students enrolled in the Masters in Biomedical Sciences program carry out off-campus summer research at Vanderbilt University. Contact Dr. F. Redway at (305) 899-3035 for further information or visit the websites listed on back page.
