Funding Opportunities for Students

Marc Horowitz, Director, Office of Loan Replacement and Scholarship, NIH, received an award for his dedication to minority research. Mr. Horowitz also gave a presentation on Funding Opportunities for students. He discussed opportunities at the NIH including the research laboratories in Bethesda, MD.

He also mentioned intramural sites at several places in the country. Mr. Horowitz described the numbers of researchers at NIH, the projects and laboratories and the summer and post baccalaureate opportunities for students.

Of special interest was a discussion of the NIH undergraduate scholarship program for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical research. He described the obligations of the students in that program, the eligibility requirements and the application process.
