- Spring 2003 Five Barry MARC/MBRS/MIRT alumni currently in Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. biomedical science programs presented at this session. Efrain Garcia, Vanderbilt University (Ph.D. Chemistry), discussed the activities undergraduates should do to become prepared for graduate school.
William Buitrago, Baylor College of Medicine, presented how Barry’s MARC program prepared him for the MD/Ph.D. program he is now pursuing. Wendy Saintval, Rennesselaer Polytechnic Institute (Ph.D. Mathematics) discussed the best approach to choosing a graduate school and a research program.
Joel Rodriguez, University of Michigan (Ph.D. Psychology), informed the audience of the various sources for funding graduate research. Stephanie Bingham, University of Missouri (Ph.D. Neuroscience) stressed the importance of having a good mentor-student relationship while in graduate school.
