Graduate Updates

Isabelle Simeus-Felix- (MBRS’97) successfully passed the New York Bar Exam this summer and received her Juris Doctorate from Fordham University. She accepted a position as a first year associate at Lester Schwab Katz & Dwyer LLC.

Efrain Garcia- (MARC’00) received the Neuroscience Scholars Fellowship which allows him to attend the annual Society for Neuroscience meetings for the next three years.

Davecia Ragoonath- (MARC’02) was invited to attend the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography 2005 Aquatic Sciences in Utah, February 2005. She will present her poster entitled “Physiology of a heterotrophic cyanobacterium in the black band disease microbial consortium of corals.” She will also present this research in an oral form at the 32nd Scientific Meeting of the Association of Marine Laboratories of the Caribbean in Curacao, June 2005.

Ria Achong-Bowe- (MARC’01) accepted a position at Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the Division of Newborn and Childhood Screening as a Public Health Lab Scientist, Baltimore, MD.
