Student and Faculty Accomplishments

Ileana Pazos , Carolina Pombo-Martinez and Poincyanne Assis were inducted into Gamma Sigma Epsilon, National Chemistry Honor Society, November 15, 2005.


Christophe Arteaga
(RISE) and Tina Franklin (RISE) have received the 2006 American Physiological Society (APS) Minority Fellowship Travel award to present their research posters at Experimental Biology, San Francisco , CA , April 1-5, 2006. Christophe's research was carried out at New York University , and Tina's at Colorado State University , summer 2005.

Christophe Arteaga also received the Proctor and Gamble award to attend the Research and Development Colloquium for Undergraduates, Mason , OH , November 6-8, 2005.

Dr Peter Lin (SCORE), Dr Teresa Petrino (SCORE), Carolina Pombo-Martinez (RISE/MIRT/MARC)and Luis Carreño (Computer Science major) have received the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, ASBMB, Proteomics and Bioinformatics Workshop Team Travel Award, to participate in the workshop, San Francisco, April 1-5, 2006.

Maria Pineda (RISE/MARC) won the superior (highest) award for her poster presentation at Sigma Xi Student Research Conference in Seattle , WA , November 3-6 2005. Maria conducted this research at the Whitney Laboratory, University of Florida , summer 2005.

Andreina Aguado (MARC) was one of seven Barry Students granted funds from the South Florida Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) to attend the 231 st ACS national meeting, Atlanta , GA , March 26-28, 2006. Andreina will present a poster on her Alzheimer's research being conducted at Barry.

Dr Gerhild Packert , Lina Arencibia and Lynnsay Marsan , have received awards to attend the Undergraduate Education program at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology, San Diego , CA , March 4-6, 2006.
