Graduate Updates

Raquel Peralta (MIRT/RISE'03) is now a Health Educator for a non-for-profit organization--Community Healthcare Network in New York City.

Efrain Garcia (MARC'00), Vanderbilt University, PhD Pharmacology, received a two year appointment to be the student representative on ASPET's (American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics) Committee on Minorities.

Florence Taylor (MARC'03) will graduate this semester in the top half of her class from University of Florida Law School.

Ivette Lopez (MARC'03), is pursuing the Masters in Public Health with a specialization in Environmental and Occupational Health, and a certificate in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, at Florida International University.

Rina S. Santiago-Jewett , PhD (MARC'00), is currently in Lincoln , Nebraska completing a post-doctoral residency program.  She got married on April 29th 2005 and is enjoying Nebraska.

Diego Torres, MD (MBRS '93) now has a medical practice in Ormond Beach , FL. He is also the Principal Investigator for Peninsula Research, Inc. and is involved in Phase III and IV clinical trials. Dr Torres is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice. Dr Torres is married to Carrie, and they have a beautiful 5 month old daughter Anabella.

Erica Ramos (MARC '03), Second year PhD School Psychology,  Fordham University ,  NY , has just published an article: Blankenship, V., Vega, C. M., Ramos, E., Romero, K., Warren, K., Keenan, K., Rosenow, V., Vasques, J., & Sullivan, A.  (2006). Using the multifaceted Rasch model to improve the TAT/PSE measure of need for achievement.  Journal of Personality Assessment, 86(1), 100-114.  She has also presented her graduate research at American Psychological Association Washington DC, August 2005.
