Parties with a Difference: Saying Goodbye to Dr. Ana Jimenez, and to Nerina Ramdial
Our Christmas Party on December 1, 2005 was a time to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and to wish Nerina farewell as she left our programs. Nerina Ramdial Smart was the Technical Coordinator for the MARC and RISE programs. She started working with the programs as a work study in 1997. After graduating she remained with us as she completed the Master of Science in Health Service Administration. Nerina is now completing the graduation requirements for the Juris doctor degree at Nova Southeastern University ; she will graduate in May 2006.
We celebrated our annual Valentines Day Party this year by honoring one of our MARC graduates, Dr Ana Jimenez . She has accepted an Associate Professor position at Nova Southeastern University . Dr Jimenez is a 1993 MARC graduate; upon completing her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Miami , she returned to Barry as a faculty member. At Barry Dr Jimenez carried out research on the effect of glutamate on otoacoustic emissions on the C57/BL 6J inbred strain of mice, taught courses in physiology and human anatomy, and was very involved in the MARC and RISE programs. At the Valentines Day Party, February 13, 2006, the current students showed their appreciation through games, speeches and gifts.
