Karen E. Miles, EdD, RN
Dr. Miles joined the faculty in the Division of Nursing in summer of 2010 as an Associate Professor and the Program Director for Undergraduate Nursing Education. She holds a BSN, MSN and EdD in Educational Psychology from West Virginia University (WVU). Dr. Miles began her career as a faculty member at WVU in 1975 and was appointed the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the early 1990's. In 1999 she accepted a position as the Endowed Chair and Director of the School of Nursing at Florida Gulf Coast University, which was the newest State of Florida University. She then was recruited by the University of Florida as the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, as well as the Coordinator of the Doctor of Nursing Program. Dr Miles has been the Primary Investigator on multiple DHHS Bureau or Heath Professions Nurse Anesthesia and Nurse Practitioner Advanced Education Traineeship Grants as well as a one million dollar Bureau of Health Professions - Promoting Culturally Competent Primary Health Care Grant. Her major publications, presentations and research were in the areas of Personalized System of Instruction, Pre-term and Term infants, and Pre-school Children. Throughout her career she has served as the Chair and member of multiple Dissertation and MSN Thesis committees and assisted in the development of RN to MSN, Clinical Nurse Leader and Accelerated Second Degree BSN Programs.
