Sumera Ackbarali, MS
Sumera Ackbarali, MS, HTL(ASCP)CM, graduated from Barry University with her B.S. in Biology, M.S. in Anatomy, and Post-baccalaureate certificate in Histotechnology. She joined the faculty in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2009. Her graduate research focused on the changes in skeletal muscle fiber size and fiber type distribution following reinnervation in the rat hindlimb. Her undergraduate thesis examined the correlation between demographic factors and global HIV and malaria prevalence. She is a licensed histotechnologist, and is currently a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the Florida Society of Histotechnology. She also represents the College of Nursing and Health Sciences on the Faculty Senate and the Safety Committee.
