Barry nursing and PA students volunteer at health fair for the homeless

A group of Barry University Nursing and Physician Assistant students recently volunteered to serve at a health fair for the homeless at Miami Beach Community Church.

Joining the students were Professors Suzanne Jaffe and Faye Milne from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and PA instructor William Demshok. The group from Barry performed height, eye, vital signs and blood sugar screenings, as well as wound care. More than 50 clients were served at the health fair, which takes place three to four time per year.

Additional services included housing, mental health counseling, HIV & hepatitis C screening, clinic referrals, food and clothing distribution, breakfast and lunch, haircuts, and more.
