Higher Education Administration (MS)

This degree prepares individuals to be capable, sensitive professionals in the field of Higher Education, in keeping with the mission of Barry University and the Adrian Dominican School of Education, in the following ways:

• The Higher Education Administration Program offers quality academics in a caring environment, combining a humanistic approach to education with the advances brought to the field by technology.
• The program addresses the need of the higher education community for qualified, caring and competent administrators who can make a difference in the lives of college students of all ages.
• The program will provide students with opportunities to experience the concept that learning is a melding of the academic and nonacademic aspects of campus life.
• The program will provide students the opportunity to learn how positive human relations concerns can be inculcated in the areas of policy development, conflict management and organizational problems and concerns.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will have acquired the ability to:

• project societal and political trends for the future of higher education and make necessary administrative decisions based upon this knowledge;
• apply human relations and leadership principles to a higher education work setting;
• analyze major organizational theories in order to choose structures and procedures appropriate to higher education institutional settings;
• design appropriate research methodologies to apply to administrative issues; and
• understand the role higher education has played, continues to play and will play in American society.
