The GED 2007 Series Tests

The GED Tests have undergone major revisions. The new series of tests was implemented on January 1, 2007. Unlike previous editions of the tests, the GED 2007 Series scores may not be combined with previous editions. In order to pass the GED test, examinees must score at least a 410 in each subject area and a total of 2250 points in combined scores.

Skill Requirements

The purpose of the GED 2007 Series Tests is to provide an opportunity for adults who have not graduated from high school to earn a high school equivalency diploma by taking and passing these tests. The content of the tests will still reflect the major academic outcomes of a four-year program of study. However, the GED 2007 Series Tests will place a greater emphasis on workplace and higher education needs.

The GED 2007 Series Tests will remain 7 hours and 35 minutes in length. There will be approximately the same number of questions on each test. Twenty percent of the mathematics questions will be “constructed response” meaning students will use alternate formats to provide their answers.

The GED 2007 Series Tests will cover subject matter in four areas:

  • Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Mathematics

The GED 2007 Series Tests include:
