The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Histotechnology program is designed for students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in biology or related field. This 4 + 1 program prepares you for histotechnology certification with one year of additional study. Students receive intense training through a combination of lectures, hands-on laboratory experience and clinical internships.

The histotechnology program at Barry University is one of only three programs of its kind in the United States accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The program is also approved by the Florida Department of Health as an official histotechnology training program.

Preparing You for ASCP Certification

Students completing the certificate program are eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification examination.

Convenient Program for Working Professionals

This nine-month program is designed with the working professional in mind. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends so students can continue to work while enrolled in the program.

Internships

The program includes a five-month internship at clinical affiliate sites in South Florida. Internships are scheduled during the daytime hours in accordance with the schedule of the assigned clinical site. The internship provides practical hands-on experience that prepares the student for a career as a histotechnologist.

Accreditation
