Sumera Ackbarali, MS, MLS(ASCP)CMHTL, MT(AAB), MDxT(AAB), AHI(AMT)

Sumera Ackbarali joined the faculty of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2009. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Biology and the Program Director of the Medical Technology Specialization Program. In addition to Medical Technology courses, she has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Histotechnology Program, Biomedical Sciences Program, and Laboratory Management Program. She graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science degree in Anatomy, and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. Her research interests include skeletal muscle fiber reinnervation after nerve injury and infectious disease trends. She has presented at the Florida Academy of Sciences (FAS), University of Miami Neuroscience Symposium, and the Florida Chapter of American Medical Technologists (FLSSAMT), in addition to mentoring students who have presented research at FAS and Barry University S.T.E.M. Symposium. Ms. Ackbarali is a section chair and CNHS representative on the S.T.E.M. Committee, and also serves on the Arts and Sciences Safety Committee and CNHS Committee for Interprofessional Collaboration. She previously represented CNHS on the university's Faculty Senate and Undergraduate Council.

Daniel Packert MS, HT, HTL (ASCP) CM,

Daniel Packert MS, HT, HTL (ASCP) CM, graduated from Barry University with a MS in Clinical Biology with a specialization in Histotechnology. He joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences as an Adjunct Instructor in 2010. Daniel is currently an Assistant Professor and the Program Director of the Histotechnology specialization since 2016. Daniel previously worked on research with the DARPA grant involving gaseous Nitric Oxide and its application in wound healing. He is a member of Sigma Xi, Florida Society of Histotechnology, and the National Society of Histotechnology.
