School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences
Barry University's commitment to the School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences is evidenced by its $4.5 million Health and Sports Center. This facility is fully equipped with an 1,800 sq. ft. Athletic Training Room and research-oriented 2,100 sq. ft. Human Performance Laboratory, a 780 sq. ft. Biomechanics Laboratory , an arena for basketball and volleyball, a 2,200 sq. ft. Strength and Conditioning Room, classrooms, locker rooms, and offices. There are also quality outdoor facilities for baseball, softball, soccer, tennis and racquetball. An outdoor pool and a sand volleyball court complete the sports complex.
HEALTH AND SPORTS CENTER

The Health and Sports Center at sunset. The facility houses the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences which offers several graduate and undergraduate programs of study designed to prepare you for a career in sport, the health and wellness industries, education, human performance, rehabilitation, clinical research, and the diving and golf industries, among others. In addition, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is housed here. The facility accommodates teams, spectators, students, faculty, coaches, and state-of-the art laboratories. |

BIOMECHANICS LABORATORY

Barry's new 780 sq. ft. Biomechanics Lab contains the latest equipment and computer software programs used for analyzing human movement. Hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art laboratory will enable you to gain the skills necessary to apply movement analysis techniques to activities in daily living, sport, and the workplace. Some of the equipment includes:
- high speed cameras (used for 3D High Speed Videography)
- force measurement devices (Biodex)
- electromyography
- computer software such as Labview

HUMAN PERFORMANCE LABORATORY

This superb laboratory is equipped for cycle ergometer and treadmill exercise testing, oxygen uptake measures, body composition assessment, blood analyses, pulmonary function analyses, and 12-lead EKG assessment. The student majoring in the Exercise Science Program can be assured extensive training and experience within this facility. |
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING ROOM

In addition to its use by student-athletes, the 2,200 sq. ft. Strength and Conditioning Room is open to students, staff, and faculty during certain hours of the day, evening, and weekend. |
HEALTH AND SPORT CENTER GYMNASIUM

Barry's Health and Sport Center gymnasium is home to NCAA Division II basketball and volleyball games. The facility is also used by The Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness for on-campus activities. |
OUTDOOR SPORTS COMPLEX

Barry's outdoor sports complex offers softball and soccer fields as well as outdoor basketball, tennis and racquetball courts. The courts are utilized by Barry's athletic teams, students, faculty, and staff. |
