Dr. Kathryn Ludwig, Associate Professor of Biomechanics
Having completed a Master of Science degree in Physical Education at Texas Christian University, Dr. Ludwig went on to earn a Doctorate in Physical Education from Texas Woman's University. Doctoral work in Biomechanics provided her the opportunity to continue her research interest in the biomechanics of soccer, particularly the skill of heading.

Biomechanics is the science of the internal and external forces acting on the human body and the effects produced by these forces.  Dr. Ludwig’s research interests in Biomechanics include examining the effect of fatigue on the muscle activity and joint moments during sidestep cutting, the relationship between leg extension power and rowing power output in female collegiate rowers, and the psychomotor skills and heading technique of men’s and women’s soccer players over a season of collegiate soccer.  Dr. Ludwig teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in kinesiology, biomechanics, mechanical analysis of human movement, ethics, motor learning, and research methods. Her weekend activities still include her life-long love - soccer. She began playing at age 6, and coaching at age 18. She coached the NCAA Division I University of Arkansas Hogs Women's Soccer Team in 1988-90.

Dr. Claire Egret
Assistant Professor, Biomechanics
Dr. Claire Egret joined the HPLS faculty in 2007 and currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Sport and Exercise Sciences.  She received her Ph.D. in Biomechanics and Physiology of Movement, from the University of Rouen.

Dr. Egret’s teaching experience began as lecturer at the University of Sport Sciences, Rouen.  Later, she served as Assistant Professor at the University of Sport Sciences, Arras, and finally as visiting professorat Jacksonville State University, before accepting her position at Barry University.

Her doctoral research examined, “Contribution to the Optimisation of the Golf Swing: Kinematic and electromyographic analysis of the Golf Swing depending on the golfer's Level of Expertise and the Type of Club Used. Effects of augmented concomitant electromyographic feedback on the Performance” and Dr. Egret’s research has been published internationally in scientific journals such as the International Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Movement Studies, and Isokinetics and Exercise Science.
