John A. Rushing, Sr., DBA, SPHR is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Academic Coordinator for Administration in the School of Adult and Continuing Education at Barry University. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Regional Director for North Florida. His bachelor's degree is from the University of Miami, Master's Degree in International Business is from Nova University and his Doctor of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He teaches in the Master's of Public Administration program and in the undergraduate administration program. His research interests are international human resource management, professional ethics and academic professional development.

Dr. Rushing is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resource Management. He serves as the Chair of the Government / Legislation Committee in the Big Bend Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. He is a member of the Academy of International Business and has served as the Historian and the Secretary of the Academy of International Business SE USA Chapter. Dr. Rushing serves on the ACE faculty committee for adjunct faculty professional development. In the community he serves as Vice President of the Reston Homeowners Association. At the local, state and national level he is active in Constitutional issues.

Prior to moving to Tallahassee he served on the Board of Broward County ASTD and the Board of the Barry University Chapter of PDK and was a member of the American Education Research Association.
