Dr. Romano holds an appointment on the faculty of Barry University as an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences, and Academic Coordinator for Social and Behavioral Sciences. He is also responsible for curriculum oversight in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Romano received his Ph.D. from the Department of Counseling Psychology at the University of Kansas. His Master’s degree was obtained from the Department of Psychology at Central Washington University and he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Chester University. His emphasis is in Psychology, clinical studies and application with a commitment to Wellness and Prevention.

Before moving to the faculty, he was the Director for Barry University’s School of Adult and Continuing Education program in Orlando. Dr. Romano has been served in administrative and faculty positions at Barry University since 1994. A practitioner with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Romano is a Licensed Psychologist in Florida and is associated with the Orlando Institute for Psychology and Education. He is a specialist in the areas of stress and anxiety, development, senior transitions and family interactions. Stress dynamics and reactions in everyday life, in particular the development of solution focused interventions, continues to be an area of emphasis in his work. Dr. Romano’s presentations, workshops and classes are well received by adults, families, and educators. The idea and belief that Psychology can be practical and fun is an orientation carried throughout his interactions in and out of the classroom. 

Prior positions include appointments as Associate Dean of Health and Counseling Services, Professor of Psychology, VA Hospital Department of Psychology, Grant Evaluator and Writer, Family Service Practicum Coordinator and Developer, School Psychologist, and Primary Psychologist for Secondary School Gifted Students. Dr. Romano is actively involved in the State and local community: He is Past President of the Florida Psychological Association and is Chair of the Electronic Health Task Force. Dr. Romano also serves as the APA Disaster Response Chair for Florida, and the Florida Psychological Association; as Chair of Mental Health Services for the American Red Cross – Mid Florida Region; CE Chair for Florida Psychological Association - Central Chapter; a Board Member for the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, Garden Theater; and current Treasurer and Past-President (two times) of the Rotary Club of Southwest Orlando. Dr. Romano is founder of Central Florida Westie Rescue and has produced film, television, and radio programs.
