Dr. Marilyn Jenkins received her Ph.D. in Education & Leadership with a Specialization in Human Resource Development from Barry University in May, 2007. Her dissertation was entitled: A Study of Leadership & Culture. She earned a MS in Human Resource Management in 1986 and a B.A. in Sociology in 1981 from La Roche College, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Jenkins also attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC for undergraduate coursework.
Dr. Jenkins serves as Assistant Professor, Academic Coordinator, Human Resource Management and Financial Planning for the School of Adult and Continuing Education at Barry University. She works teaches undergraduate and graduate human resource, marketing, and business classes at various university locations. Since 2006 Dr. Jenkins has been the Project Coordinator of two grants from Miami-Dade County to provide training for social service workers who work with elders and special needs clients. Dr. Jenkins also serves on Barry University’s Community Learning Project where she works with Miami Shores principals and teachers on professional development projects.
Prior to transitioning to faculty Dr. Jenkins was Associate Dean, Regional Administration for North Florida and Director of Continuing Education; Associate Dean for Continuing Education and Director of University Off Campus Site Coordination; Regional Director of Partnerships; Assistant Director for St. Petersburg and Avon Park, and Academic Advisor/Recruiter. Prior to Barry University, Dr. Jenkins was the Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees at La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA from 1986 to 1997. She served in various capacities at La Roche including Assistant Registrar.
Dr. Jenkins is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, Nu Psi Chapter of Barry University. Dr. Jenkins has presented papers at the International Academy of Human Resource Development in Lille, France, and domestically at the International Academy of Business and Public Administration, the Florida Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration and the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.
