On Saturday, April 5, Barry's Department of Counseling hosted the Sixth Annual Graduate Student Conference for counseling graduate students. The conference included students from Lynn University and Barry’s Sport Psychology and Counseling departments.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Katharine Campbell, LCSW, who provided insight into current issues within the field of counseling. Dr. Campbell also provided attendees with advice on how to be prepared and successful in the field and maintain a work/life balance.

“We were pleased with the turn-out," Chi Sigma Iota-Beta Upsilon chapter president Marisha Alexandre commented. "We are grateful for all of the presenters who shared great insight into the discipline of counseling. It was really nice to see so many student engaged in research.”

Graduate students facilitated workshops throughout the day. The workshops covered a varitety of topics including marijuana legalization, counseling first-generation college students, and communication/humanistic approach in family therapy.

“I really enjoyed the poster presentation by Maximilian Pollack called "The experience on flow in professional musicians during an onstage performance," said Nicole Sambrano, Chi Sigma Iota- Beta Upsilon conference chair. "It sparked a lot of interest and dialogue about relating physical activity into the counseling domain.”
