Earn Credits by Examination
- Advanced students may earn credits for the CS 180, IT 190, or IT 200 courses in the BSIT program by test-out examination. Credit by examination may only be attempted once. A passing score for credit by examination is 80% or higher. If a student fails a credit by exam, s/he must register and complete the respective course. The test-out exam credits are counted as part of the allowable transfer credits in the student's major coursework.
- Note: Students NOT choosing to do a specialization ARE REQUIRED to submit an Experiential Learning Portfolio in order to satisfy the degree requirements.
*Students may opt to test-out of any of these courses by taking the corresponding challenge examination (view Exam Credit policy).
- The majority of a student's major coursework must be taken at Barry University. Therefore, a maximum of four equivalent courses (12 credits) will be accepted into the Major Core and a maximum of two equivalent courses (6 credits) will be accepted into the specialization area, including credits earned from test-out challenge examination and Portfolio (see Credit By Examination and Portfolio Option).
- A maximum of 64 credits will be accepted by the university in transfer from regionally accredited community/junior colleges.
