Meet the Intercultural Center Staff

Damaris M. Vasquez
Director, Intercultural Center

Damaris M. Vasquez received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Spanish from Rhode Island College. She holds a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island.

Damaris was appointed as the Director of the O'Laughlin Intercultural Center in the Fall 2001. Before coming to Barry University, she was at Florida International University as the Program Director and Director of Student Services for the University Outreach Department.

Prior to relocating to Miami, she worked at Brown University as an administrator within the Special Services Bureau of the Police and Security Department. There she oversaw three student organizations; organized international, first year orientation and transfer orientations; served as the department spokesperson and Webmaster; provided cultural sensitivity training for faculty, staff and students, as well as training for the student counseling system.


Yojana Rodriguez

Yojana Rodriguez is a native of beautiful South Florida  and a double alumnus of Barry University. During her undergraduate studies, Yojana was a scholarship member of the Women's Basketball team and received her bachelors in Public Relations in May 2004. Then in May 2007 she graduated with her Masters of Science in Higher Education Administration.

Before joining the Intercultural Center Yojana worked for the Office of Residential Life here at Barry University as an Area Coordinator and oversaw three out of the eight residence halls that Barry University has. She supervised thirty Resident Assistants indirectly and ten directly. 

While supervising the Resident Assistants, Yojana’s role was divided into Mentor, On Crisis Duty Rotation, and liaison between resident students and the Office of Residential Life. She also helped Resident Assistants develop programs that catered to the needs of their resident students.


Denique T. Boxhill is from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Health Services Administration here at Barry. She also completed her Bachelors degree in Biology in May 2006 at the University.

Denique has long served the student body here at Barry as she has been active in various student organizations, the student government, and is also a Resident Assistant in on of our eight residence halls.


Amanda E. Johnson came from the beautiful twin isles of Trinidad and Tobago. Currently pursuing her Masters in Sports Psychology at the University, Amanda has also received a Bachelors in Psychology December 2007 from Barry.

Before joining the Intercultural Center Amanda worked at the Office of Admission as a Student Ambassador, where she gave potential students tours and a taste of campus life.
