Academic Success: Barry Law offers students a unique advantage to enhance their legal studies through the Academic Success Program. Included in the program are weekly study groups led by upper division students, individual counseling, and skill building workshops including exam planning and writing.

Admissions Policy: Rolling. Applicant files are turned over to the admissions committee upon receipt of all required items.

Affiliation:  Since 1999, the School of Law has been exclusively located in Orlando. The main campus is based in Miami Shores. Founded in 1940, Barry University is sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Order of Sisters from Adrian, Michigan. Within its Catholic Dominican tradition, Barry Law values matters of faith through religious freedom and acceptance of diversity.

Bar Preparation: Students can take advantage of this supplementary bar preparation program at no additional cost. The program director coordinates substantive lectures on both national and state portions of the Florida bar exam and offers individual tutoring and counseling on a flexible schedule.

Clinical Placements: While working outside the classroom for course credit, Certified Legal Interns are supervised by practicing attorneys who provide direction and feedback. Clinic--Barry Law offers an in-house clinical opportunity in the Children and Families Clinic focusing on child advocacy in the areas of delinquency, dependency, mental health and education law. Externships—Students work in public sector law offices specializing in Civil Poverty, Civil Government, Criminal Defense, and Criminal Prosecution. Responsibilities include litigating actual cases, advising clients, interviewing witnesses, and preparing legal documents. Placements exist in both Federal and State Court judicial chambers and a mediation clinic.

Mentors: Law students benefit from the vast experience of the law school faculty through the Mentor Program. Faculty mentors meet with students to assist with course selection/direction, exam preparation, networking and career advice, and any other issues that arise.

Mission: Barry Law offers a quality legal education in a caring environment with a spiritual dimension while emphasizing community service and social justice. We challenge students to embrace intellectual, ethical, spiritual, and social responsibility in an atmosphere of academic freedom.

Scholarships and Financial Aid: All admitted students are considered for Barry Law scholarships involving generous renewal provisions and a scholarship bonus program (top 10%) for second-year students. Awards are based on merit including LSAT scores and GPA. In addition, Barry Law offers Federal Stafford Loans and private loans via various lenders.

Teams: Moot court (appellate level) and trial advocacy teams compete against other law schools both regionally and nationally. Visit the website for more details regarding Barry Law teams’ most recent successes.
