Orlando, Fla. – Barry University Law School student Jonathon Blevins was awarded a scholarship from the Federal Bar Association (Orlando Chapter) of one year’s membership in the organization. The scholarship is in memory of the late Judge James Glazebrook, who served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Florida from 1996 – 2007. Judge Glazebrook was a devoted husband, father, friend and a valuable member of the court “family.”
The Federal Bar Association chose to honor the memory of Judge Glazebrook by awarding this memorial scholarship to a deserving student from each of Orlando’s two Law Schools. Jonathon Blevins, a third year law student, has served the Barry Law School community through active participation in both Trial Team and Moot Court. Currently, Blevins serves as the Chief Justice of the Barry Moot Court program. The Federal Bar Association Scholarship was awarded to Jonathon on March 7 at the federal courthouse during a special ceremony celebrating the life of Judge Glazebrook and his service to the legal community.
“I am honored by the opportunity presented to me by the Federal Bar Association,” said Blevins. “I will honor the memory of Judge Glazebrook by utilizing the scholarship to further Barry University School of Law's presence in the legal community and to aid in my professional growth.”
By participating in the Federal Bar Association, Jonathon will have the opportunity to take part in professional meetings and programs, to network with members of the local federal bar and judiciary, and to represent the name of Barry Law School in the Orlando community.
