Professor Alford Washington teaches Legal Research & Writing. Prior to coming to Barry University School of Law, Professor Alford Washington taught legal research and writing as an Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University Law School and the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. Additionally, as an Adjunct Professor she taught legal research and writing at American University Washington College of Law to Masters of Laws (LL.M.) students from non-common law or mixed law countries. Professor Alford Washington began her legal career with the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. Her responsibilities included processing administrative matters such as tort claims, freedom of information requests, equal employment opportunity complaints and administrative remedies.
Professor Alford Washington received her J.D. from Southern University Law Center, honored as a Member of the “Best Overall Team” in Moot Court Round Robin Competition. She attained a Masters of Law (LL.M) degree from Georgetown University Law Center with a special emphasis on the Intersectionality of Gender, Race and Law. Professor Alford Washington is a past Fulbright-Hays Scholar (Senegal/Cote d'Ivoire) and former Non-Governmental (NGO) delegate for the World Conference Against Racism (Durban, South Africa, 2001).
Professor Alford Washington's scholarly publications include the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy and the Law and the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. Recently, she was nominated to serve on the Board of Advisors for the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law.
