Professor Koons came to Barry University
School of Law after receiving the Master of Theological
Studies degree from Harvard Divinity School where she
explored the intersections of faith and social justice.
While at Harvard, Professor Koons also served as a teaching
fellow in the Sociology Department, focusing on social
stratification by gender, race, and class.
Professor Koons practiced law primarily in the fields
of poverty and civil rights. She taught at the University
of Mississippi School Of Law. She has served with the
United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit,
the Supreme Court of Florida, the Advocacy Center for
Persons with Disabilities, and Central Florida Legal
Services.
Professor Koons teaches Jurisprudence, Feminist Jurisprudence,
Legal History, Landlord and Tenant Law, the Public Defender
Externship, the Judicial Externship, and Legal Methods.
