Prior to joining the faculty at
Barry University School of Law, Professor Markman was
the Division Chief of the Orange County Office of the
Public Defender, Juvenile Division. While with the Public
Defender’s Office, she represented indigent clients
in all areas of criminal law with a focus on juvenile
delinquency and children’s rights. Since joining
the faculty, in addition to her teaching duties, Professor
Markman was the Director of Litigation for the Attorney
ad Litem Project. In that role, she was responsible
for directing both law students and practicing attorneys
in the legal representation of dependent and foster
care children.
Professor Markman teaches the Children and Family
