Before coming to Barry University, Professor Hutchens spent three years in the Washington, D.C. area working towards a Ph.D. in Education Policy with a specialization in higher education from the University of Maryland, College Park. During his graduate studies, he served as a legislative fellow on the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. As a legislative fellow, Professor Hutchens worked on numerous legislative issues related to education, including the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. Prior to attending law school, Professor Hutchens taught ninth grade world history and geography. |
