Professor Simpson-Wood received
her J.D. from Tulane Law School, graduating Magna Cum
Laude and being elected as a member of the Order of
the Coif. While earning her law degree, she was also
an Associate Editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.
She then continued her legal education as the Maritime
Law Center Fellow earning her LL.M. in Admiralty. Upon
graduation, she received the Edward A. Dodd award for
graduating first in her class.
Professor Simpson-Wood began her legal career as an
associate in the maritime section of a major firm in
Seattle. Her law practice experience also includes serving
as an assistant vice president and associate general
counsel for a national bank and as in-house counsel
for a telecommunications company.
Professor Simpson-Wood previously taught at Appalachian
School of Law, Regent University School of Law, and
Tulane Law School and has published in the Tulane Maritime
Law Journal and the Journal of Maritime Law & Commerce.
She is extremely pleased to be joining the faculty at
Barry University and will be teaching Civil Procedure
and Admiralty.
Professor Simpson-Wood received her undergraduate
degree in acting and had an extensive acting career
on stage, screen and television before attending law
school. She still acts professionally and hopes to continue
performing in the Orlando area as time permits. |
