Technology

A student reviews her class outline prior to class. While laptops are not required, the majority of students use laptops to take notes and supplement their class outlines each day. Wireless access all over campus allows students to check email and surf the Internet between classes. |
The Library and Information Services Department (LIS) oversees all activities of the Law Library and all technology on the School of Law campus. LIS provides students with local campus network access to Internet subscription databases, CALI (Computer Assisted Legal Instruction) programs, Lexis, Loislaw, Westlaw, and other electronic resources. The Windows XP & 2003 Server network includes access to Microsoft Office 2003, WordPerfect 12, the Internet, and web-based e-mail accounts for all students, staff, and faculty. The Law Library houses a computer lab and provides a wireless network accessible from all buildings on campus as well as outdoors. Six copiers within the Library allow students to print, copy and scan documents. Students may send print jobs from anywhere on campus, and the jobs are then retrievable from the Library's copiers using their student ID cards.
The LIS Department is staffed by dedicated information service professionals who are committed to providing outstanding legal resources and exemplary service. This facility, with its technologically advanced resources and outstanding librarians and staff, provides a solid foundation for legal education. If you have any questions regarding technology, such as what we recommend when purchasing a laptop computer, please call the Library's main phone number, 321-206-5700, for assistance. |
