ELAN (Electronic Library Acquisitions
Network)
ELAN is the electronic ordering system for library books, videos, CDs,
and DVDs. Faculty are able to order materials in these formats through
an online form. This form replaces the library order cards. The form
is available by clicking on ELAN FORM below.
Faculty members placing library orders will receive an e-mail confirmation
that ELAN has received the order, and a second e-mail notifying them
that the material has been received and is ready for check-out.
This new electronic system will not only expedite the ordering process,
but it will also enable the subject librarian to check the status of
any specific title, at any time. ELAN is a great improvement for the
library's collection development process, which will in turn benefit
the faculty, the students and the Barry community. Please ask your subject
area librarian for more information.
Library orders are placed in the
order they were received. If it is a busy time of year, it may take
a couple of months to get to your request . If you need the material
rushed, just contact your library liaison and we can RUSH the order
for you.
Remember all faculty requests should
be placed by February 1st in order for them to come from the current
year's budget. Any orders received after that time may have to wait
for the following fiscal year.
