Fall 2007 Issue
Barry students presented a resolution to House Speaker Marco Rubio on the floor of the Florida House of Representatives Feb. 20 on behalf of the 28 Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF), thanking legislators for their support of the Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) and calling for an increase in funding for the grant.
Ryan Saunders and Nichole Reid, president and vice president of Barry’s Student Government Association (SGA), formally presented the resolution advocating for an increase in state aid to residents attending any one of 28 institutions that make up ICUF. The sum sought represented an increase of $150 from last year, and the resolution calls for the amount to be stabilized or increased. While in Tallahassee, Saunders and Reid met with other legislators, including Sen. Jim Reid, and attended a meeting of the ICUF Council of Presidents, made up of presidents from each of ICUF’s 28 institutions, including Barry President Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, PhD.
