Travel with Barry

As part of the new Barry Abroad Program, the Alumni Association will sponsor a nine-day trip to Ecuador, March 14-22, 2009. The organizing travel company, Earth Lion Expeditions, has dedicated itself to creating an itinerary that reflects Barry University’s distinctive values and traditions.

Starting from the city of Guayaquil, our expedition leads us on a journey along the Ruta Del Sol (Route of the Sun). It is an enchanting place with a mix of breathtaking beaches, rustic farms and quaint fishing villages. Next follow us on a hike from the Ayampe River’s edge, bordered by tropical flowering plants of every color, into the splendid canopied rainforest. Then come bury your toes in the white powdery sand of the beautiful Los Frailes Beach. We will spend three nights in the Alandaluz eco-lodge where we will taste the local cuisine prepared in hollowed out bamboo and pumpkins. The gentle ebbing of the ocean a few yards away will lull you to sleep as you settle down for the night in one of the lodge’s colorful cabins.

So join us on a once in a lifetime experience as we travel through the Ecuadorian countryside while enjoying a unique blend of local culture and cuisine.

The house is available to all Barry alumni for outside meetings and events. Simply contact Alumni Relations at 305-899-3175 or alumni@barry.edu. Dinner for 10 BUCS!

FAB (Future Alumni of Barry) is proud to present Dinner for 10 BUCS – an exclusive opportunity for students and alumni to come together and form new friendships. The concept is simple. Barry University Alumni sign up to host a dinner for five students. Then the alumnus/a invites four of their friends (preferably other Barry alums) and it becomes a perfect networking opportunity.

The Dinner for 10 BUCS program is designed to build and strengthen the Barry Community by creating an informal environment for Barry alumni to make connections with students. It also offers a chance for students to get a feel for how they can stay involved with Barry after they graduate.

Don’t let the name intimidate you; dinner can range from a catered affair to a backyard BBQ. You pick the time and place. Alumni Relations will take care of inviting the students. All you have to do is let us know where and when you want to host the dinner. We are also available to assist you with any details for the dinner.

If you are interested in this program, e-mail FAB@barry.edu or contact Patti O’Brien at pobrien@barry.edu.

Barry Social Club

In order to cater to the busy lives of our young alumni, we have created the Barry Social Club in which your only responsibility is to show up and have a great time. We are still looking to fill the Barry Social Club Elite Member positions. These group leaders would have only one additional responsibility – to bring friends. Elite members will also benefit from additional socials and gatherings in their honor, just for helping us add to the guest list. If you are a recent alum who is interested in becoming involved please contact Patti O’Brien at (305) 899-3749 or pobrien@barry.edu.
