Juan Carlos Núñez, president of Whole Foods Market in Florida speaks to Business students

Juan Carlos Núñez, President of Whole Foods Market, Florida Region, was the seventh speaker at the School of Business' Executive Leadership Forum (ELF).

The forum, that took place Nov. 7 at Barry’s main campus in Miami Shores, was titled: Driving Growth and Success through Conscious Capitalism. Núñez shared with the audience how Whole Foods' commitment to a higher purpose and its nurturing culture has allowed it to engage in meaningful relationships with its stakeholders.

As the President of Whole Foods Market, Florida Region, Núñez directs the strategy and operations of more than 18 Whole Foods Market stores with six in development and approximately 3,200 employees in the State of Florida - a region that contributes to the total revenues of the company; approximately $12 billion annually.

Núñez is the most senior Regional President at Whole Foods Market. Since joining the company in 1993, he has expanded its presence and operations by growing from three to 18 stores in Florida, opening a distribution center to facilitate access to markets and operating a Bakehouse to complement the distribution center, as well as establishing regional executive offices in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

He has been named Whole Foods Market Global All*Star three times and Honorable Mention once. The Florida Region was also recognized as the 2011 Whole Foods Market Global All*Star Region. The award is the highest recognition of achievement within Whole Foods Market.

Prior to joining the company, Núñez worked at Mrs. Gooch’s Natural Foods Market, which was later acquired by Whole Foods Market in 1993. He held various positions including: store team leader, director of store operations in the Southern California Region, and vice president of the Southwest Region.
