Leticia Vega, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Biology
PhD in Cell Biology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA
Post-doctorate in Molecular Biology, Princeton University, NJ

Joined Barry: January 2005

In her lab at Barry University, she uses baker’s yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to study how telomerase, an enzyme that is important for maintaining DNA, contributes to genomic integrity. Yeast is an ideal organism to study basic biological problems and to teach students about the fundamental aspects of biology.
