Labs: School of Natural and Health Sciences Facilities

Your laboratories for the marine science major will include the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay, and the Florida Everglades. In addition, your learning will be enhanced by our 11 teaching labs which are equipped for the specific discipline(s) taught in the lab: Marine Biology/Botany, Biotechnology/Genetics, Cell Biology, Anatomy, Zoology, Occupational Therapy/Histology, Physiology, Embryology, Microbiology, Cardiovascular Perfusion, and Histotechnology. Several of our labs are also equipped with Internet access and PowerPoint computer projection systems.

As mentioned elsewhere, you may have the opportunity to conduct research with one of our faculty members. If selected, you will work in one of the 12 individual faculty research labs. Each faculty research lab has an adjacent faculty office.

There is one shared-equipment room, a laboratory prep room, and two greenhouses.

In addition, you will find the Student Resource Room very helpful. It is equipped with computers, printers, scanners, and resource materials on study skills, careers, graduate program or professional school options, and much more. If you are involved in the minority student research grants, you will have two additional resource rooms available.
